Cybersecurity Weiterbildung Syllabus
Our syllabus includes over 2,400 academic hours, designed and continuously updated by our academic team – seasoned cybersecurity experts with military training experience. Our comprehensive curriculum is divided into four modules.
Core skills and tools:
- Computer Networks
- Python Programming
- Operating Systems – Linux, Windows
- Cloud Engineering & Security with Azure
- General AI Tools and Techniques
- AI Tools for Cybersecurity
- Digital Forensics & Incident Response

Module 1: Cybersecurity Fundamentals
In Module 1, you build the technical foundation you need for any entry into IT security: networking, Windows/Linux, cryptography, the CIA triad, and virtualization and remote access — hands-on from day one in the terminal and with Wireshark. The module ends with the CompTIA Tech+ certification, preparing you for roles like Help Desk Technician, IT Support Specialist, or Junior System Administrator.
Module 2: Core Topics in Cybersecurity
In Module 2, you move into real-world practice: you learn security fundamentals, social engineering and initial access, web hacking, and vulnerabilities & exploitation across Windows, Linux, and Active Directory systems. You’ll also cover security monitoring with SIEM tools and the basics of Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC). The module ends with the CompTIA Security+ certification, preparing you for roles like SOC Analyst, Penetration Tester, Security Engineer, or GRC Analyst.
Module 3: Cloud & Enterprise Security
In Module 3, you secure modern cloud environments: you work with cloud foundations, DevSecOps and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), cloud monitoring with Microsoft Sentinel, and identity & access management via Entra ID. You’ll also secure Microsoft 365 and enterprise environments. The module ends with the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) certification plus your choice of AZ-104 or SC-200, preparing you for roles like Cloud Security Engineer, Cloud Administrator, or Security Operations Analyst.
Module 4: Cybersecurity Specializations
In Module 4, you deepen your expertise in a realistic company environment: you analyze attack and defense scenarios, work on advanced GRC topics like ISO/IEC 27001 and NIS2, and explore AI security. You’ll also choose your own specialization — from SOC to Penetration Testing to GRC or Application Security. The module ends with the IHK Cyber Security Advisor certification (or PECB ISO/IEC 27001), preparing you specifically for your chosen career path.
A Day in the Life of a Cybersteps Student

Your morning begins with a daily opening and 2 live class sessions led by a senior Cybersteps instructor, with a short break in between. We start by reviewing the day’s plan, followed by learning new tools, concepts, and technologies through real-time demonstrations and interactive participation. The session also gives you the opportunity to ask questions and deepen your understanding.
I Am Ready To Start
After class, you will reinforce your knowledge through self-paced exercises and hands-on labs designed to simulate real-world cybersecurity challenges, allowing you to practice and refine your skills at your own pace with the full support of our teachers and mentors who are always available to you.
I Am Ready To Start
You’ll have a dedicated hour-long lunch break to step away, recharge, and refuel before diving back into your training.
I Am Ready To Start
After lunch, you’ll participate in a group review session, a personal review session, or have extra time for labs and projects. Often times we bring senior cybersecurity managers to give a guest lecture and share their perspective on recent advancements, market developments, or advice on building a career in cyber.
